What happened

A joinery workshop in Olneyville built and fitted three staircases for a developer. The invoice, $18,400, went unpaid for eight months, with a new reason each time my client rang.

What I did

I collected the contract, the signed delivery notes and the messages approving the work. A notice of intent to claim a lien on the property went out with a draft complaint and a date.

How it ended

The developer paid the invoice in full before the date, with interest and my client’s legal costs. Six weeks from the first call to cleared funds.
